This focaccia is super easy to make and it is extremely beginners friendly. You donโ€™t even need to put your hands in the dough until creating those iconic dimples and air pockets - which is the best part of the process in my opinion ๐Ÿ˜ All you need is patience and time ๐Ÿ…

Ingredients:

โ€ข 500g flour all purpose or white bread flour โ€ข 2 tsp salt โ€ข 8g instant yeast โ€ข 450ml water โ€ข Olive oil โ€ข Topping of your choice (tomatoes, rosemary, sage, goat cheese, salt)

Steps:

So, I have to warn you that this recipe requires zero effort but a lot of time! โ˜บ๏ธ The dough is very hydrated so donโ€™t panic that it is very sticky, just use a spatula to mix and olive oil.

  1. Mix the flour, salt, yeast and water in a big bowl by using a spatula and once the dough comes together cover it with olive oil completely. Cover the bowl with a plastic wrap or fabric cloth making sure that it is completely covered. Put it in the fridge and let it rise for 12-24 hours in the fridge (You can leave up to 48hours).
  2. Take the dough out of the fridge and transfer it to a greased baking tray (also place a baking sheet to the bottom of the baking tray just in case and cover it with lots of olive oil). Stretch the dough as big as the baking sheet and cover it with the plastic wrap. Let the dough rest and rise again for 2-3 hours in the room temperature.
  3. Preheat the oven to 200C.
  4. After 2-3 hours, add the herbs to the dough and more olive oil, dimple the dough with your fingers. This is the most satisfying part of baking a focaccia. Donโ€™t burst the air pockets in the focaccia, we need those! ๐Ÿ˜ Lastly, add your favorite toppings. I added fresh rosemary, sage,tomatoes and goat cheese. Sky is the limit, make your own combinations. ๐Ÿง€ ๐Ÿซ’ ๐Ÿซ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿง„๐Ÿง…๐Ÿฅ” You can also keep it very simple or even naked! I am also very generous with olive oil because I simply love it a lot but you can be more moderate โ˜บ๏ธ
  5. Place the baking sheet to the oven and bake it 25-30 minutes until it is golden and looks like ready to get out of the oven ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
